Ultrabooks Battery Life Comparison

As specified by Intel’s requirements in order to market a device as an Ultrabook, it must have a battery life of minimum 5 hours. There are numerous Ultrabooks and each of them has different battery capacity, battery life and specifications.

Laptop Battery life Vs. Ultrabook Battery life

The average battery life of a traditional laptop is around 3 to 4 hours maximum. Ultrabooks are smaller, thinner, faster and better in every way but yet, somehow the manufacturers have managed to extend their battery lives to more than 6 hours of continuous use. The answer is simple; Laptops are powered by the old Processors and Hard drives that consume a lot of power and they reduce a device’s battery life. Unlike Laptops, Ultrabooks are powered with low-power Intel Processors (Intel Core i3, i5 or i7) which need very little power to run and Solid-State drives as storage. SSD is a low power storage which does not contain any movable disks or any movable parts and it requires comparatively less power to run. Other factors that cause ultrabooks to have a better battery life are the integrated graphics used in Ultrabooks unibody chassis. Ultrabooks do not have dedicated graphic but integrated one which utilizes a part of RAM for graphical needs of the device. Unibody chassis can fit larger batteries with better capacities in smaller cases. These are the reasons why an Ultrabooks have such great battery life without any kind of compromise in the performance of the device.

Here is a list of latest Ultrabooks with their overall battery life.
