Toshiba Satellite U840

Toshiba’s new 14inch ultrabook Prototype was unveiled in the Consumer Electronics Show in “Las Vegas”. The company was not very keen on revealing its hardware specifications, but by the feature of the new Ultrabook prototype as exhibited it would be mainly for the mainstream users which mean home users, school users and not very high-end business users. The price of this unnamed latest gizmo with a Satellite logo on it would be around $ 699 – $799 USD. It is sure to hit the market in June 2012.

This satellite prototype appears with a graphite grey color and striated texture running across the lid and the thickness of it is about 0.78inch. The screen resolution is 1366 x 768 display, three USB portals, an opening for the insertion of SD card, Ethernet and HDMI jacks and an input for the microphone and the headphone with Intel’s next generation Core processors codenamed “Ivy Bridge”. This new device is supposed to have rounded edges and wrapped in aluminum that is much stronger to carry outdoor but cheaper than the Magnesium alloy as used in other Toshiba Ultrabooks. So the Ultrabook would be extremely thin and super lightweight. Full sized chicklet style LED-backlit keyboard with large click pad with the right and left buttons incorporated into the touchpad surface is an elegant addition. Toshiba Ultrabook will offer either solid-state drive (SSD) or spinning hard-disk drive Storage (Flash memory), eight hours of Battery life, utilize its own “Hi-Speed Start” Technology, USB Sleep and Charge facility with fast boot times and near instant wake times.

For the first time, Toshiba has decided keep the approach to aesthetics and contour minimal to be more in line with its contemporary – Apple Mac book.

In older years, the ultrabook producer companies tried to copy Apple’s design in a subtle fashion, but this year Toshibas’s 14 inch ultrabook will surely outdo Apple’s design in every way possible.

The USP of this 14 inch device is that it can be equipped with older versions of Windows 8, as well. The Company later revealed later that this device only uses the Core i3 1.3GHz processor and 4GB of memory. In addition to that, Toshiba also uses 128 GB hard drive to speed up working.

Thus, with this all new Toshiba ultrabook, Windows 8 will spread across every computer. This will also be able to bring out newer Laptops at a much cheaper rate.
