Toyota Innova (MUV)

Toyota’s one of the most successful cars in India, is the Innova, Multi-utility vehicle. It will soon get a facelift in early 2012. It has been the charm of every Indian family to buy one. The guys at Toyota have increased the production by 50% recently. The car comes in both, petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine is also compatible with CNG, with an easy switch for the driver to change between CNG and petrol and vice versa.

Honda CR-V

The bulky, yet stylish SUV from Honda is a choice of many Indian buyers. The CR-V, for now is available only in petrol engine. Honda plans to get the diesel engine in the same by early 2012. Available with a hefty price tag of 25+ lacs, it is still a preference of Indian buyers. Kudos to Honda technology!

Skoda Yeti

Skoda Yeti is powered by the CRDi common rail diesel engine, 2.0 liters the same one which does duty in the Superb and Laura. Available in price point between 18 lacs to 22 lacs, the Yeti is a package of massive power.

Tata Aria

The eight seater comes with a 2.2L DICOR (Direct injection common rail) engine which does justice to Tata Safari. Trying to give Toyota’s Innova a tough ride, Aria has not been successful enough to match up Toyota standards.

Toyota Fortuner

The big and bulky SUV from Toyota is in huge demand for the Indian buyers. The company increased the production up to 90% to match the demand. The CRDi engine churns out 163 PS of power the ride and handling is at par competition. Between 19 and 22 lacs, the Fortuner is a sheer genius when it comes to real Sport utility, crossover utility also for that concern.

Mahindra XUV 500

Mahindra XUV 500’s design is inspired by a cheetah, as the Mahindra team calls it. It comes loaded with features, diesel and petrol engines. Ranging from 10 lacs to 14 lacs, it gives a tough competition to Toyota Fortuner, which comes almost double of its price.

Chevrolet Captiva

Captiva is available is both automatic and manual gearboxes, comes loaded with a 2.0 L diesel engine. This sport utility vehicle is priced between 17-19 lacs.


The premium car manufacturer surprised the Indian buyers with the launch of its SUV X1. The base model of it comes at 22 lacs and the highline model comes at 23 lacs, both with diesel engines.

Mitsubishi Outlander

Mitsubishi outlander comes with a 2.4L MIVEC engine. It has a jet fighter grill sets your heart pumping! The design of Outlander simply stands out with the rear LED lights and front HID headlamps with AFS function. It is available in 2 variants, petrol and diesel; 2WD (2 wheel drive) and 4WD (4 wheel drive). The SUV is available between 19-22 lacs.

Renault Koleos

With the Americans and Germans battling it out, there is no reason for the French car maker to step back! Team Renault has hit the Indian markets and much sooner with an SUV! Designed by Renault and developed by Nissan, it started production in 2008. The SUV is available between the price range of 19 – 22 lacs.
