Alice-in-Wonderland

  • Alice in Wonderland (2010) Written by Linda Woolverton, the movie was directed by Tim Burton. The film was inspired by Lewis Carroll’s book Alice in Wonderland and its sequel Alice through the looking glass. The cast includes Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. The film was produced by Disney Digital 3D.
  • Toy Story 3 (2010) The movie was directed by Lee Unkrich. It is the third part to the Toy Story saga. It was produced by Pixar and released by Walt Disney pictures. The movie was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Song, and Best Sound Editing. It went on to win awards for the Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. The voice-overs included Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear etc.
  • Tangled (2010) It is an American fantasy comedy film that was produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It is considered as one of the costliest animated films ever made of all time. The movie was initially called Rapunzel, but the name was changed to Rangled before it was released. The movie is based on the story of Rapunzel by Grimm Brothers. The cast included Many Moore as Rapunzel, Dona Murphy as Mother Gothel etc. The objective behind the film was “to create movement that mimicked the soft fluidity of the hand-drawn art found in older Disney animated films”.
  • Despicable Me (2010) It is an American animated film that was produced by Illumination Entertainment. The cast of the film includes voice-overs by Julie Andrews, Steve Carell, Will Arnet etc. The movie earned a lot of positive reviews from critics. A video game of the movie was released for PSPs and Wii. The sequel of this movie is in progress. The movie went on to win the Kids Choice Award for the Favorite Animated Movie.
  • Shrek Forever (2010) ­– The movie is often tag-lined as the final picture. It is the fourth and the final part of the Shrek legacy. The movie was produced by DreamWorks Animation. This movie also is a parody to the fairy tale theme. The cast includes Mike Myers for the voice of Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey and Cameron Diaz as Fiona.
  • The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn (2011) Directed by Steven Spielberg, the movie is based on The Adventures of Tintin a comic book by Herge. The cast includes Jamie Bell for the voice of Tintin and Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock. It took exactly two years to complete the movie and was finally released in 2011. Critics commented, “characters and stories are truly execrable, especially in the way it ignores the books’ key idea of inauthenticity.” Though the movie was greatly liked by the Tintin fans. Spielberg proposes to make a sequel of this film that is slated to release in 2015.
  • Gnomeo and Juliet (2011) Directed by Kelly Asbury, the movie is based n Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet. The main cast of the movie are James McAvoy as Gnomeo and Emily Blunt as Juliet. The role of Mrs. Montague was done by Julie Walters and Mr. Capulet by Richard Wilson. The movie received a mixed response from the critics and the audience. The movie ends happily with Gnomeo and Juliet getting married.
  • Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) Directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson, the movie is an action comedy. The cast of the film includes Gary Oldman as the main antagonist Lord Shen, Angelina Jolie as master Tigress etc. It is the highest grossing film to be directed by a woman. It is the sequel to the film Kung Fu Panda. A third film is also planned after this. The movie received plenty of nominations including the BAFTA nomination for Favorite Children’s Movie.
  • Happy Feet 2 (2011) It is an animated family film directed by George Miller. He had co-directed Happy Feet. The movie was released with a Looney Tunes short, “I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat.” Cast include Elijah Wood as Mumble, Brad Pitt as Will the Kril, Robin Williams as Ramon etc. Video games have been made for PSPs, Xbox360 and Wii.
  • Puss in Boots (2011) Directed by Steve Miller, it is an animated action movie. The cast includes Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Billy Bob Thornton etc. The movies received positive reviews from both critics as well as audience.
