Renault Pulse, Nissan Micra; which is better?

Nissan Micra, launched in July 2010 is one of the most popular Nissan cars in India. Micra were built on V-platform which is the same case for the recently launched car at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, Renault Pulse. As the experts say Pulse is just a rebadged version of Nissan Micra. This refers to fact that there are quite a lot of similarities between both the cars.

As mentioned before Micra has earned its popularity in the Indian market but now it is time for Renault Pulse to try to get into the Indian market. Here we have done a thorough comparison between both the cars Nissan Micra and Renault Pulse.

Renault Pulse VS Nissan Micra

Design –
The exterior of Renault has been designed well-suited for the preferences of Indian market. The car comes with a sharp front end and trendy head lights. The chrome lining that’s holding the grille and its curvy bumper showing the badge of Renault give the car a stylish look. The rear spoiler with high-mount taillights is exactly what distinguishes this car from Micra.  Nissan Micra is also very well designed as well as suited for the Indian market. The exterior of Micra has a round look with oval shaped headlight. Both cars consist of fog lights on the sides of the grille.

Performance (engine specifications)
As we know Renault is only available in diesel engine. But Micra is available in both Diesel and petrol. Both cars have the same specifications and here they are: –

  • Capacity of 1.5 litre
  • Power generation of 63 bhp
  • Peak torque of 160Nm
  • 0-100 in 16.2 seconds
  • 5 speed manual transmission

Micra also comes in petrol engine with 1198 cc 3 cylinder, 12 valve 1.2 litre DOHC petrol engine with76PS maximum power and torque of 104 Nm. This engine has 5 speed manual transmissions.

Safety measures –
Micra has engine immobilizer, security alarm, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, Seat belts, driver seat belt reminder, central locking, remote keyless entry, push button ignition.

Renault Pulse does not offer all these safety measure but they are pretty standard. Micra is considered to be a safer car.

Price of Renault Pulse Vs Price of Nicssan Micra

  • Pulse – Rs. 5.77 lakh to Rs.6.25 lakh
  • Micra – Rs. 4.10 lakh to Rs.6.17 lakh

Taking all the factors into consideration, both cars are pretty much in the same league but Micra takes the advantage in a way as it has already been there for a while now and also it has better safety measures.
