Remedies for removing tan

Keeping your skin smooth, supple and free from tans is one of the most important concerns for everyone today. With increase in the global temperatures, the scorching heat of the sun is making our skin more and more vulnerable to problems like sunburn and tanned skin. When the amount of melanin (determines human skin colour) present in the skin increases, our skin becomes darker. Tan on your skin is an indication that damage has been done to your skin. So in order to remove tan from your skin I have listed below some feasible home remedies which will help you get rid of tan or sunburn and will make your skin fairer, smoother and flawless.

  • Always remember, “Prevention is better than cure”. Overexposure of skin to sun, tans your skin; so make sure that you put sunscreen lotion with a high SPF before you step out in the sun. Even if it is cloudy, wear sunscreen lotion because cloudy weather also puts your skin in the danger of getting tanned.
  •  Mix turmeric powder with milk or lemon juice and apply it on your face and other tanned areas on your skin. Keep it for at least 20 minutes and then scrub it off with a good face scrubber. Thereafter, wash it with cold water. It will not only help reduce the tan but will also help remove your facial hair.
  •  Rub sliced tomato directly on your skin for some time and then let it dry. Later wash it away with cold water. You can also do the same procedure with cucumber’s juice.
  •  Make a face pack of 2 teaspoons of milk powder, half teaspoon of honey, half teaspoon of almond oil and some drops of lemon juice. Apply it on your tanned skin and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Wash it off with cold water after it dries up.
  •  Apply baby oil on your skin before bathing. This also gives significant worthy results against tanning. Also mix Epsom salt in your bathing water on regular basis to reduce tan.
  •  Prepare a paste of 2 teaspoons of oatmeal + 1 teaspoon of tomato juice + ½ teaspoon of curd and apply it on tanned skin. Leave it as it is till the pack dries. Then wash it away with normal water.
  •  Take some powder of dried orange peels and add 2 teaspoon of gram flour, 1 teaspoon of curd & few drops of coconut oil in it. Blend them properly and apply a mask of this paste on your skin. Let it dry and then after 10- 15 minutes remove it with water. This will not only help remove your tans but will also reduce the scars and blemishes on your skin.
  •  Soak 5-6 almonds in water overnight and blend them with cold milk. Apply this paste on your skin and leave it overnight. Next morning, wash it away with cold water.
  •  Mix turmeric powder with wheat flour and add lime juice to it. Both turmeric powder and lemon have natural bleaching properties. So apply this paste on your face and let it dry. Wash it off with water and then apply an ice cube on your face to soothe your skin and trigger your blood circulation.
  • Blend 2 tsp of mashed papaya + ¼ tsp of soda bicarbonate + ¼ tsp of salt into a scrub like paste. Apply it on the affected tanned areas and keep it for good 15 minutes. Wash it off with cold water. Papaya will help nourish your new skin and salt will remove your dead skin.
