Earlier the use of internet was accessible only for the people living in developed countries but in recent times, it has been accessible to almost all parts of the world. Now, with increased probabilities of better mediums for awareness; the concept of shopping is highly recognized and accepted by most of the audiences.

With increased awareness, people are now inclined towards internet shopping. But like every good side has a bad one, online shopping also has its flaws. Some pros and cons of online shopping are listed below-

  •   The best part of online shopping is that you can shop from home. It will be delivered right at your doorstep, you just need to order. No need to go to a shopping mall and purchase any item you want.
  • You don’t need any degree or qualification to shop online. You can save on time, traveling fuel expenses, which would otherwise be spent on going to the store and shopping.
  • All you’ve to do is visit the website, search for your product, choose your product and it is just a click away. Moreover you don’t need to wait for the website to open; it is a 24×7 service.
  • Physical shopping from shopping malls or stores makes it difficult to compare two products and their features. But online, you can just click the product, you have information about it and you can check and compare all the features of two products.
  • The discounts coupons, cash vouchers and other offers attract customers from time to time.


Disadvantages of Online Shopping

  •   The very first disadvantage which is felt is the time gap between paying for the product and the delivery of the product.
  • Not trials! You cannot try out the products. No demo of the product or trial of different of sizes in clothing.
  • High shipping costs also add up the product’s maximum retail price. Moreover, if the product ships from another country, you’ve to pay extra taxes for that.
  • The payment mode may not be secure. With many insecurity issues, making online payment is a threat to your bank account and other banking details.
  • Rare, but possible is product damage while shipping of any product from place to place. If in case the product turns out to be damaged, it shall take few more days or weeks to replace.
  • The way online shopping portals present their website, you may be provoked to buy much more than you want, which results in unwanted expenses.
  • Cash on delivery is a better option when it comes to selecting the mode of payment. Debit and Credit cards are not a secure option compared to cash on delivery.
