Microsoft Office 365 Now in India

Microsoft has officially launched the Office 365 in India. Office 365’s specialty is it can function across multiple devices such as desktop, laptop, tablet, mobiles etc. at the same time. It is social and can be integrated with the cloud. In fact it is the cloud version of Office 2013.

Office 365 productivity suite comes with all the familiar office applications such as Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, Onenote, Publisher, Visio, Project. Besides these it also consists of Sharepoint Online, Exchange Online, Microsoft Lync Online and Yammer.

“There were many reasons why we have decided to go with Microsoft’s cloud services. With Office 365, we can take full advantage of reliable, state-of-art technology that helps our business run more effectively at lower costs. Most importantly, Office 365 creates a more productive mobile workforce by providing employees access to email, documents, contacts, and calendars – using a variety of devices from virtually any location. The first wave of our global rollout of Office 365 has successfully been able to unify our geographically diverse workforce providing them with the access they need anytime and anywhere, with tools that they are already familiar with. At the same time, we have been able to retire a number of legacy messaging systems and consolidate the footprint. That is a great advantage,” said Mayur Danait, CIO, Lupin.

The company also revealed its client list for Office 365 which includes Tata Communications, Lupin, FICCI, Godrej Group, AEGON Religare, Tata Elxsi, Adhunik Group, SIRO Clinpharm, Gavs Technologies, Unilog, ACME Tele Power, Dabur India, Visaka Industries, and Infiniti Retail.
Microsoft Office 365 is priced at Rs 4,199 per year for individual users. Enterprise users have to pay around $6 to 22 per month.

“Office 365 is one of our fastest growing businesses globally. It was launched in mid-2011 and now every fifth Microsoft enterprise customer globally uses Office 365. The number of small and medium businesses has grown by over 150 per cent year-on-year,” Microsoft Corporation India GM (Office Division) Ramkumar Pichai said.
