How do hobbies keep you fit?

Collecting stamps, coins, chocolate wrappers, bus tickets, pictures of cars and whatnot!!! When was the last time you did that? When was the last time you danced on your favorite song? When was the last time you tried your hand at something new? When was the last time you flew a kite or visited the zoo? Hard to remember huh?

Our day begins usually at 7 am. After finishing the household chores, we run to the office. A stressful day is followed by a quick dinner and then we spring into the bed. Where is the time for hobbies? Because of our hectic schedule, we tend to perceive a hobby as a mere waste of time. For many of us, nurturing a hobby means cutting down on the tempting siestas. We hardly know about the lifelong advantages that nurturing a hobby can have.


Finding a hobby.

For many people, it is hard to choose a hobby. Think about what you enjoy doing the most and you will get your answer.

Hobbies need not necessarily mean collection of a particular thing. Find joy in little things. Cooking a new cuisine can give you sheer happiness. Who knows, after one successful recipe, you might turn out to be an all time favorite chef for your family and friends.

Think about what you are good at and do that. It could be singing, dancing or grasping new words. Take up solving crossword puzzles, scrabble and other quizzes.

If you find it hard to pick up some activity, just be impulsive. Set out with your camera and start clicking, you’ll end up discovering something new about your neighborhood.

If you enjoy journeys, take the local bus and go where it takes you. Sometimes it’s okay not to have a fixed destination. What is important is that you’ll get to know several new things in and around you town.

Paint!!! You’ll get to know about the artist hidden inside you.

Learn a new language. This is the best way to gain knowledge about a foreign culture.

Hobbies help you to get your much needed own time. Many of us tend to fuss about not getting enough of own time because of our tight schedule. Start nurturing a hobby and you’ll get the time that you need for yourself.

Hobbies help you to get rid of the dullness around you. This way you feel active and energetic. Nurturing a hobby will keep you active, yet relaxed at the same time.

Taking up a hobby will help you to expand your social circle. Joining a hobby class gives you the advantage of learning a new

Hobbies like trekking and dancing will keep you physically fit. Such hobbies also help in revealing your adventurous side and the hidden talents.

Many of us tend to grab our favorite electronic gadget and get glued to it the minute we become free. We claim that we enjoy its company. But in reality, it’s a mere waste of time. Think about what all you can do instead of wasting your time.     

Be it cooking, reading or gardening, take up something. Maintaining a hobby will not only help you with your self growth, but will also make you healthier and happier.
