Home remedies for blood pressure

Blood pressure is termed as the disease of modern age. The percentage of people suffering from blood pressure is increasing every year by a phenomenal rate and individuals of all age groups are reported to be suffering from this disease. The modern age of industrialization and metropolitan atmosphere prevalent in our life, has compelledus to get trap in the web of stress, hypertension and depression.

Biologically, blood pressure is caused due to increased flow of blood in the arteries which in turn is caused by rise of adrenaline in blood. This activity is instigated by a variety of reasons ranging from obesity, hormonal changes, high intake of sodium to stress and depression.

It is often labelled as a silent killer because hypertension (high blood pressure)can result in heart attack, brain damage, kidney failure, strokes etc. which might cause major loss to health and life. So, it would be naïve of us to neglect such a disease and not take any precautions or practice any remedies for it. Apart from the regular medication recommended by the doctor, here’s a list of home remedies for high blood pressure (remedies for hypertension).

  • It has been proved scientifically that garlic plays a crucial role in lowering high blood pressure. Hence, consume 2-3 cloves of garlic everyday or mash them and drink with water. Apart from controlling your blood pressure it would also supress the symptoms of dizziness, numbness, formation of gas in the digestive tract and shortness of breath.
  • Coarsely pound 100 gm seeds of melon and khus-khusand mix them together. Consume 1 tsp twice (morning and evening) every day with water.
  • Prepare a juice of few curry leaves with water and lime juice (for taste) and consume it as the first thing in the morning.
  • Blend 1 tsp honey + 1 tsp ginger juice + 1tsp cumin powder and drink it twice a day.
  • Grapefruit, Indian Gooseberry and Lemon help a lot in lowering blood pressure.
  • Intake of potatoes, rice and Parsely will also catalyse your treatment.
  • Each time your blood pressure rises, drink a tsp of cayenne pepper mixed with half a cup of warm water.
  • Chew 4 leaves of basil and 2 of neem with some water every day in morning with empty stomach
  • Eating fresh papaya with empty stomach for some weeks to reduce blood pressure.
  • Mix equal amount of onion juice and honey and consume 2tsp of this mixture twice a day.
  • Putting hot compress over the chest or walking bare foot on grass helps in curing blood pressure by improving blood circulation.
  • In case of high blood pressure, make sure intake of salt and spices is reduced to a significant level.

On the contrary if you’re suffering from low blood pressure make sure you increase your fluid intake, drink a lot of water, increase your salt intake, consume a cup of raw beetroot juice twice a day daily or drink paste of almonds mixed with lukewarm milk. Drinking black coffee can also help. Also exercise daily.

Apart from all this, you also need to change your lifestyle to deal with this problem in an effective way. You will have to ignore your food cravings for spicy, tasty and delectable food and strictly follow a controlled, balanced diet which includes more of fruits and green vegetables like spinach, broccoli, cabbage, etc.

Take ample amount of rest and include little exercise in your daily routine. Yoga has shown incredible results in majority cases.
