Google Warns Users with Malware could lose web access on July 9

Google has warned its users that they could be unable to access the web on July 9 unless they remove all malicious software or malware from their computers. Google is alerting users to the DNSChanger threat with the message “your computer appears to be infected” on computer that are affected by the malware. Users with infected machines will see the warning message on Google search result page.

Domain Name System (DNS) converts URLs into numerical which enables computers to send traffic to the right web-address. The DNSChanger (the malware) changes the DNS setting and redirects users to other harmful sites. This malware can infect mobile devices as well as computers.

So far more than one million users have been warned by Google about their infected computers with malware.
