Google Urges to Take Action to Preserve Freedom of Internet

More than two billion people (about a third of the planet) are connected through internet. It empowers us. Anyone can speak, create, learn, and share anything on the internet. It is a free world where freedom is gifted. But the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is bringing together regulators in December in Dubai from around the world to re-negotiate decades-old communications treaty that may filter and censor legitimate speech and steal our freedom of expression in the arena of web.

Other proposals would require services like YouTube, Facebook, and Skype to pay new tolls in order to reach people across borders. This could limit access to information, particularly in emerging markets.

Here comes the Google, uniting all supporters of the free and open internet. It says that Governments alone should not determine the future of the Internet. The billions of people around the globe that use the Internet, and the experts that build and maintain it, should also be included. Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon, Intel, Cisco, AT&T and Verizon are headed to Dubai in an effort to preserve a free and open Internet.

The Google Take Action Blog

Take Action is a campaign from the Google to unite the people and raise voices in support of free and open web. Surpassing million voices, the blog ask to pledge your support for the cause. People around the world are standing up and contributing. After all it is the internet where we can express almost anything. It is our freedom and now we have to preserve it.
