Google Self-Driving Cars licensed in Nevada

Google’s self-driving cars have been licensed in Nevada and now Google can test their self-driving cars on public roads. Nevada has issued the self-driving cars a different set of red license plates that has an infinity symbol and the words “autonomous car”. These cars will easily be noticed from the normal cars due to the cameras and radar equipments attached to their roofs. The Nevada DMV currently limits the licensing to only test vehicles which means only beta cars are allowed on public roads.

In order to get approval for road travel with an autonomous car, the car must have a minimum driving distance of 10,000 miles. The State also requires a complete description of the self-driving technology, safety plan etc. from the operators of the self-driving car.

A day will come when self-driving cars will be sold to public but that will have its own procedure as well.
