Getting Ready for Christmas

It is time to welcome Santa Claus to our home and celebrate the birth of the Christ blissfully. So the better way to embrace the Christmas spirit is to give your home a festive look of joy. Decorating your home for Christmas gives life and color to the aura.

Here are some Home décor ideas to make your home warm and comfortable for the Christmas season:

Decorating the entry way:

Green and red are the colors of Christmas. You can decorate your front door with an evergreen wreath and tie wide red ribbons around it to complete the Christmas look. You can add sparkling lights that will enhance the look of the door at night or you can also place foam cones in each vase on both the sides of your doorway. Anchor the vase with sand and then use the florist sticks and wire to attach Christmas balls.

Decorating the center table:

Create an elegant centerpiece with red roses in silver vases. Tuck the twigs of berries around the base of the vases and add votives to finish the look. For a modern look use green and red color tableware of different hues and designs. If you want a simple centerpiece for your table then you can take a glass jar or a bowl and fill it with multiples of the same fruits, nuts or monochromatic ornaments. If you are opting for fruits then load the jar with green and red colored fruits.

Lighting the candles:

Candles are the traditional decorative piece for Christmas. Light scented candles, try lighting cinnamon or spice-scented candles. A great way to decorate a mantel is to fill it with candle sticks and put a beautiful vase of flowers in the midst. Use candles of red, cranberry or green shades. You can also stick the candles in an empty wine bottle for a dramatic display. This looks very festive.

 Pillow covers:

You can buy red or green color pillow covers. It is an inexpensive and an easy way to redecorate your room. You can also tie a bow around your throw pillow; they will just look like Christmas gifts.

Decorate with sweets:

Christmas without sweets is incomplete. You can decorate your home with Christmas sweets. Fill a glass or dish with seasonally appropriate candies, chocolates wrapped in tinsel colored foil and place it on the center table. Bake the cookies in shapes of the Christmas trees, snowflakes or bells and place it on the table before welcoming the guests.

Decorating the Christmas tree:

Instead of decorating the Christmas tree in a traditional way, you can decorate it with the colors that match your décor for e.g. you can adapt a bronze or a silver theme, to make the tree look rich and elegant. You can also spray paint the trees with white paint for clean and sophisticated look. Cover you Christmas tree with sparkling and glowing lights to make it look lively.

Decorating the house with ornaments:

You can tie jingle bells to the handles of your doors. Hang the ornaments all over the house for an extra flair. You can hang the metal balls wrapped in green, red, golden or silver color. If you want to decorate your home uniquely then you can string cookie cutters of assorted shapes such as angels, bells or stars. Tie them with attractive ribbons and tuck them to the window casing.
