Car, Bond Car and the Ultimate Future Car

When Greek word ‘autós‘ (meaning: self) and the Latin word ‘Mobilis‘ (meaning: moving) are amalgamated, automobile is derived. And with its genesis and evolution, came a revolution. A powerful quake it was, felt in the crust of our means of moving.

Talking about cars, we’ve walked and drove a long way from the 17th century to 21st century in the pursuit of maturation and advancing our mechanics and technology of cars.

Evolution:

Flemish Jesuit Ferdinand Verbiest was given the credit of designing the first steam powered vehicle in 1672 but the practical model is still doubted. However it’s the French inventor Nicolas Joseph Cugnot who built the first full-scale, self-propelled mechanical vehicle in 1769.

Ever heard ‘Pyréolophore’?

French inventor Nicéphore Niépce created the world’s first internal combustion engine and called it Pyréolophore. It ran using the magical flash powder (Lycopodium powder).

Then came many with crazy ideas and mixed oils, hydrogen and oxygen to do something of value. At times, many German engineers were working on the improvement of automobile. But the man with heavy mustaches, Karl Benz had the right worm in his mind. He got a patent for his first engine, which had been designed in 1878.

Motorwagon (Benz patent) was built in 1886 by Karl. It was a designed to be propelled by a motor. A 954 cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine was responsible for its functioning.

Benz co. rose to prominence, and then many other engineers entered the marked including Diamler, Peugeot and Ford. But the one who caught the eye was this American industrialist, Henry Ford. Ford Motor Company started growing with its unique concepts of mass production and assembly line technique and quickly spread around the world.

Ford Model T was produced in 1908 and regarded as the first affordable automobile. As the nights passed and men perspired, cars continue to modernize and evolve.

The Ford car company eventually became the world’s largest car manufacturer and in 1927 they were able to build cars in 93 minutes.

Development became a trend and time came for the advent of other new companies, Porsche, Volkswagen, Toyota and many others started manufacturing their ultimate vehicle.

Volkswagen Beetle, the Ford Mustang and Porsche 911 became the soul-shakers of the industry with record breaking sales.

You must be wondering
Dude, cut it and tell me what’s new!

Patience is the key fellas

Coming out of the fiction, the ultimate driving machine in reality is still in research. Peeping into the latest development will be good for your auto-IQ. So what are you waiting for, read on!

In future the cars are going to be lighter, smarter, fuel efficient and high-tech, no less than any Bond car.

The Ultimate Future Car:

  • The body

The body will not be made of only one material, but it will be a combination of Aluminium, Plastics, Carbon fibre, Magnesium and HSS.

Replacing key steel parts with carbon fibre could cut vehicle weight by 40%. Also magnesium is 33% lighter than Aluminium.

  • Smart Features

LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging System): The car will use lasers, spinning at upwards of 900 RPM to generate a point cloud that will give the car a 360-degree view.

GPS: Geo Positioning Service with tachometers, altimeters and gyroscopes to pin point the car better than any standard GPS

Video Cameras: The camera will be at the front that will recognize lane markings, road signs, objects and pedestrians.

Radar/Ultrasonic Sensors: The sensors will track nearby objects and vehicles, and alert to possible collisions.

Central Computer: The computer will analyze information on the roads and control steering, acceleration and braking.

Self-healing Coating: Scratches will disappear in few hours while transparent conductive layer will prevent ice formation.

WiFi Connected: You can use apps, cloud and access all the web you want.
