Backlog Orders of ‘Aakash 2’ to be cleared in 6 Weeks: Datawind

CEO Suneet Singh Tuli of Datawind, the maker of the cheapest tablet PC in the world has assured that they will clear all the backlog paid orders of Aakash 2.0 within 6 weeks. This British -based company had already received an order of 40 lakhs tablets in past few days.

According to the officials all types of tablets resistive, capacitative without the SIM will be cleared in next 10 days and the one with SIM will be cleared within 4 to 6 weeks.



Earlier version of Datawind tablets were powered with a processor of 366 MHZ. It was provided with 256 MB RAM. The memory is 2GB. It also supports Wi-Fi connection. The new version of Ubislate tablets is introduced with 4GB flash memory, 1GHz processor, 512 MB RAM and users have an option to upgrade their product by paying more Rs.500. It runs on Google operating system Android 4.0.

Datawind CEO said that the company is producing and shipping around 2,500 to 3,000 tablets PCs on a daily basis and still they are receiving more orders which are adding to their backlog. The company is planning to increase the production to 10,000 units per day and reach this target by end of 2013.

According to the information given by the CEO, about total number of customers about 1.5 % of customers have already paid for the tablets.
